A Monstrosity!

Sometimes we all just have to let that monster inside out. For that, we have this lovely song! (:

Monster by Skillet (http://youtu.be/1mjlM_RnsVE)

This Christian rock band from Tennessee released Monster on their eighth studio album, which was certified as a gold album in July of 2010. The song in particular also reached the top forty on several charts as soon as it debuted!

Neurotic

Sometimes weird songs just take the cake. That's definitely the case with this song.

Euro Neuro by Rambo Amadeus (http://youtu.be/0dxze0t7A2s)

This crazy sounding rhyming beat comes to us from Montenegro and has been announced as their entry into the Eurovision Song Contest coming up on May 22. There's just something about this guy's strange charisma that I like, don't you?

The First Seventeen!

If you remember, the whole point of this blog is to introduce everyone to new songs and new cultures and etc. through the various songs that I post here. Because of that, I feel that it's more than necessary to give a compilation from time to time of these great songs!

So, this is it! The first seventeen songs that I've posted here in a nice little handy playlist!

Give Me Some Good Apples

I like starting off my morning with some good beats. Of course those beats then usually get stuck in my head for the rest of the day and I end up cursing them. But hey, its the price you pay for good music!

Bad Apple Touhou (http://youtu.be/VzEUeWnV73U)

This video and song was originally produced by the Touhou Project, a group dedicated to making animations and games set in the land of Gensokyo. I'm not sure what all goes on in these games, but being such a big gamer, I'll probably check it out later. :P

This video in particular is actually a remake of the original in plain black and white. Or maybe its the other way around..there's a little debate on that one and I haven't been able to figure it out. I personally think it has more impact in black and white, but that's just my opinion. Either way its a great song!

All Safe & Sound

This is a little tribute to two things:
1) My girlfriend because she absolutely loves Taylor Swift.
2) The now famous Hunger Games!
So here you go!

Safe & Sound by Taylor Swift (http://youtu.be/nhdNG_ebbTg)

In case you've been out of the loop, Taylor Swift is a nice young country singer coming out of Pennsylvania. Ever since her really big break in 2006, she has been more than crushing the charts throughout the world. She also became the youngest artist ever to win a Grammy for Album of the Year in 2010. There's no hiding that she is one talented lady! ;)

This song in particular is included on the soundtrack for the movie The Hunger Games based off of the best-selling book by Suzanne Collins. Unfortunately for many fans, like me, the song didn't show up until the credits. But that's okay, its still great!

We All "Need" Some Creativity

Now for a lesson in true creativity with none other than OK Go!

Needing/Getting (http://youtu.be/MejbOFk7H6c)

It's hard to escape the fact that this is obviously an advertising scheme by Chevy for their new model, the Sonic, but hey, they're playing music with a car! What can be better than that??

That aside, one must try to comprehend the immensity of the project. They used hundreds, yes hundreds of guitars, barrels, piping, and etc. to make this project happen. Not to mention the two to three weeks worth of time spent setting up and tuning the objects in order to match the exact notes of the song. Studio version here: (http://youtu.be/9WM4v8m2zUQ)

So, guys of OK Go, I applaud you and your amazing creativity!

Magical Dubstep?

I've got something interesting here for you today. Well, I think so at least!

Runnin' by Cutline ft. Belle Humble (http://youtu.be/xYc9orO98fE)

Now, being a somewhat unheard of song and band, it was kinda hard to find very much info on them. But here's some stuff that I was able to find!

Turns out Cutline is a group that was formed in 2010 by a couple of childhood friends, Dan Wilberforce and Jeryl Wilton, in Bristol, England. Since their start, they've been dropping their hot dubstep beats to an ever growing fanbase. In this particular venture, they brought in another British gal, Belle Humble, to provide some killer vocals, if I do say so myself. ;-P

But it's the video that gets me. It brings about an "OMG" moment when the nice, innocent victimized Little Red Riding Hood all of the sudden goes BANG!! Strange beastmode moment there I'd say.
