Fallen Kingdom

Now I probably wouldn't do this normally, but I just found a parody so good that I just had to share it. I'm sorry if it's weird, but it was just so good! ;)

"Fallen Kingdom" - A Minecraft Parody of Coldplay's Viva la Vida (http://youtu.be/I-sH53vXP2A)

I realize that most of you aren't much of a gamer like I am. You probably aren't even anywhere near that. So I'm going to enlighten you.

Minecraft is a sandbox style game (you can do what you want) that was officially released in November of last year by a Swedish designer named Markus "Notch" Persson. As you can see from the video, its nothing but a world composed of three-dimensional block that the player can build and create things with.

Now just imagine the creativity and amount of time put into this parody (that's actually quite moving eh?). The ones that made this not only had to come up with lyrics, but they also had to build an entire kingdom in-game! And then they had to make a perfect little cinematic sequence to go with it! Great huh? :P

Info about the creators can be found in the area below the video in YouTube (along with lyrics :D)

I'm Annoyed

Some things, and people, just annoy me. Fortunately I have this song to tell them about it!

Ça m'énerve by Helmut Fritz (http://youtu.be/GuLoEijF-jA)

This upbeat electropop song was released in 2009 by the French singer Helmut Fritz, which is actually the stage name of Éric Greff. Interestingly enough, Monsieur Greff actually went through the trouble to make a fictional biography for his character, Helmut Fritz, in order to reinforce his identity with the song. Talk about getting into the act huh?

Light It Up

I actually heard this song on the radio the other day and I thought it was so good that I decided to share it here! (:

Lights by Ellie Goulding (http://youtu.be/0NKUpo_xKyQ)

After a little bit of detective work, I found that Ms. Goulding is a London girl who made her debut with her first studio album, Lights (the album this song is from as well), in 2010. When it was released, it reached number one on the UK charts and quickly sold more than 620,000 copies.

I have to admit, I do rather like the nice kind of Indie pop style that she presents.

Brazilian Country

I found an interesting song earlier that I thought would be fun to share. From the video, it seems like a Brazilian country song featuring guys with big heads. :P

É Tenso by Fernando e Sorocaba (http://youtu.be/YCFxT3DDscI)

Actually, with a little bit of digging, I was able to find that the duo of Fernando e Sorocaba are, in fact, country music singers from Brazil. This song is also currently number two on the Brazil Top 20. I find it funny that the number one is actually a Katy Perry song!

He Does Love Us

This song comes as a request from my girlfriend. It's definitely one of our favorites.

How He Loves by David Crowder Band (http://youtu.be/TCunuL58odQ)

Now just to warn you, this song, like many other songs by Christian artists (more so by Christian artists than other genres I think), has seen many versions. In fact, the song How He Loves in particular has had at least six different covers. The version I have here is simply the most well known version.

The song itself was written and released in 2005 by John Mark McMillan as a commemoration of the death of his best friend. If you listen to his version, you can definitely feel his anguish. It's just a lovely song all around, no matter what version!

Here's the John Mark McMillan version: (http://youtu.be/U0luHiWwi08)

Give Me Some Respect

It's time to get down with the First Lady of American Soul!

Respect by Aretha Franklin (http://youtu.be/6FOUqQt3Kg0)

This ballad of a strong, confident woman was released in 1965 and became Aretha's hit song in 1967. It earned her two Grammy awards in 1968 and is also now listed as number five on the Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Go on now, show this woman some of that R-E-S-P-E-C-T!

Here's a video of Aretha Franklin performing the song, but FYI, the sound quality is kind of poor: (http://youtu.be/cSdFTVhFyyc)

Over the End of the World

What do you get when you cross German pop rock with punk style? This great band! :P

Übers Ende der Welt by Tokio Hotel (http://youtu.be/eJ2zsclf93Q)

Tokio Hotel got their start in Magdeburg, Germany in 2001 as a teen punk band consisting of twin brothers and their two friends. Since then, they've had much success, with four number one singles in their country alone! They've also released English versions of several of their songs, including the one I have here.
